Bachmann Blames Obama “Weakness” for Arab Spring

As Michele Bachmann sees it, the uprisings of the Arab Spring have made things dicier for longtime American ally Israel in a more unstable Middle East—and she blames President Obama’s stance on the Israeli-Palestinian problem for it. At a Thursday fundraiser in North Carolina, the Republican presidential candidate sought to criticize Obama, like Jimmy Carter, for putting “a lot of daylight” between the U.S. and Israel. “And when he called on Israel to retreat to its indefensible 1967 borders, don't think that message wasn't lost on Israel's 26 hostile neighbors,” Bachmann said of the roadmap to peace Obama laid out in May. "You want to know why we have an Arab Spring? Barack Obama has laid the table for an Arab Spring by demonstrating weakness from the United States of America," she added.
