Prince to Start New Tour in December

One of pop music's most mysterious and iconic figures is heading out on the road and he’s decided to bring a few friends along for the ride.

The multi-talented Prince announced a new tour that will feature himself - naturally - his backing band, the New Power Generation, and a rotating list of guest of stars, reports the Associated Press.

The Purple One revealed details of the “Welcome 2 America” at Harlem’s Apollo Theater on October 14. The “series of events” gets underway in December with Prince serving as master of ceremonies. He says the tour is “best described as what we’ve all been waiting for.”

Concrete dates have not been announced, but the shows will likely be in the New York area and will start on a "Purple Day in December in the year 2010," said the star known for such hits as "Kiss" and "Little Red Corvette."

Concertgoers are being told “to bring friends, bring your children and bring foot spray ‘cause it’s gon’ be funky.”

Among the artists stopping by are rising R & B star Janelle Monae, former Prince bandmate Sheila E., Maceo Parker, Mint Condition, Cassandra Wilson, and classic funk act Graham Central Station.
