Oscar Noms: Oldman and Plummer React; Lawrence Remembers

If it’s Tuesday, it must be Oscar nomination reaction day.

Vetern actors Gary Oldman (getting his first nomination ever) and Christopher Plummer took a moment to reflect on their nominations (for the films "Tinker Tailor Solider Spy" and "Beginners," respectively), while nomination announcement hostess (and 2011 nominee for "Winter's Bone") Jennifer Lawrence remembers what went through her mind when she heard her name on the ballot.

Gary Oldman – Best Actor Nominee, “Tinker, Tailor, Solider, Spy”:

“This afternoon in Berlin I have learned that I was nominated for an Academy Award in the category of Best Actor. You may have heard this before, but it has never been truer than it is for me today, it is extremely humbling, gratifying, and delightful to have your work recognized by the Academy, and to join the celebrated ranks of previous nominees and colleagues. Amazing.”

Christopher Plummer – Best Supporting Actor Nominee, “Beginners”:

“It’s a shot in the arm for a young kid of 82 to receive an Academy Award nomination this morning.  My gratitude to writer/director Michael Mills, the Academy, and to everyone involved with Beginners.”

And we couldn’t resist including Lawrence’s vivid memory of her own nominated experience, which she shared with PopcornBiz after making the announcement at the Academy of Motion Picture Arts & Sciences this morning.

“It’s just such a journey,” Lawrence recalled, “and such a bizarre thing to watch something that you worked so hard on and something that’s so personal that you love so much, to see it appreciated by other people, and to meet the other nominees – that was my personal favorite part, meeting the other nominees, people I’m a huge fan of.”
