An airplane landed safely at John F. Kennedy International Airport from Moscow Sunday afternoon after officials received word of a potential threat, the Port Authority confirmed.
The Aeroflot plane landed at the airport around 3:45 p.m. for a report of a bomb threat on the plane, Port Authority spokesperson Lenis Rodriguez told News 4. Police worked to deboard the plane and search for any confirmed threats.
Port Authority later announced that "The plane had been cleared" and no threat was confirmed.
One runway was temporarily closed due to the investigation, Rodriguez said.
A departing flight to Moscow was delayed while police conducted their inspection.
The airport's official Twitter account tweeted: "Due to an ongoing incident, emergency personnel and activity may be observed at #JFK airport. Please note that the airport is fully open and flights are operating without delays."
No other information was immediately available.
