Pennsylvania Man Accused of Chain Saw Attack on Tavern Patron

Police have charged a man with using a chain saw to attack another patron at a northwestern Pennsylvania tavern.

Corry police announced the charges Friday against 60-year-old Stephen Simonowicz of Columbus.

The charges stem from an incident June 19 at the Pub Bar.

Police say that's when Simonowicz rushed into the tavern after a 55-year-old man with a running chain saw. Police say the suspect nearly struck a woman's leg with the saw and damaged the top of the bar. The suspect missed his target, though that man did hurt his ribs on a table while wrestling the saw away from the suspect.

Online court records show the suspect must appear in court Aug. 21 to answer the charges, including aggravated assault. They don't list an attorney for Simonowicz, who didn't answer his phone Friday.
