So Here's Four Seconds–FOUR!–From “Rise of the Planet of the Apes”

When the next OED is written, they're are sure to cite this clip as the very definition of "teaser."

ApesWillRise.com launched today, and it consists entirely of a home page and a four second clip of a very serious looking ape glancing menacingly to his right. We can only assume that this is Caesar (Andy Serkis), the ape who incites the rebellion.

Last week the film, which stars James Franco, received its fourth title, "Rise of the Planet of the Apes," and now they've launched the shortest clip in promotional history. Has the marketing of this film been brilliant or moronic? Seeing as we're talking about it, probably the latter.

Franco's latest, the medieval stoner comedy "Your Highness," tanked in its opening weekend, finishing sixth, while making only $9.7 million. We loved it, but most folks hated it--what're you gonna do?

We gotta admit, once you get past how maddeningly short this "apes" clip is, it looks great. The movie opens Aug. 5.
