Thousands Protest for Union Rights in Michigan

Ground zero in the clash between public employee unions and GOP officials has shifted to Michigan. The Lansing State Journal reported about 3,000 union members and their supporters turned out for a protest Wednesday at Michigan's Capitol. Filmmaker Michael Moore also drove turnout at the event in opposition to Gov. Rick Snyder’s controversial budget plans. The GOP-led Michigan House recently passed legislation that will allow a emergency manager in some cases to supersede local elected officials’ power and throw out union contracts.
