Transgender Contestant Returns to “America's Next Top Model”

Model has undergone gender reassignment surgery

Transgender model Isis King will be back to compete on the upcoming season of "America's Next Top Model."

King, 25, was living in a homeless shelter in 2008 when she first approached show officials about competing as a girl "born in the wrong body." Show host and producer Tyra Banks liked the idea and King became one of 14 finalists for the eleventh cycle of the show, placing tenth.

On her blog, King hinted that she might present herself differently this time around.

"I was depicted on ANTM as a very timid individual, but I'm the COMPLETE opposite," she said. "I have never sat quiet in a corner for any reason, and I never will!"

King was undergoing hormone therapy when she first did the show, but has since undergone a sex change, according to her Facebook page. She has appeared in Us Weekly, Seventeen and Out magazines.

The hit CW show, which stars Tyra Banks, will feature 14 fan favorites from the past 16 cycles, including King, Bianca Golden, Angelea Preston and Alexandria Everett. Celebrity judges will include Kathy Griffin and La Toya Jackson, as well as Ashlee Simpson, Kristin Cavallari, Nicki Minaj, and Tyson Beckford.

The new season of "America's Next Top Model" premieres Sept. 14 at 9 p.m. ET.
