Family, fellow veterans and constituents of the late Sen. John McCain, R-Ariz., gathered at the state Capitol and lined the streets of Arizona to bid the Vietnam war veteran and longtime senator one last farewell.
The late-senator's body then departed from Arizona to the U.S. Capitol building where thousands of mourners filed past to say goodbye as McCain lay in state. The following day, a mass of mourners that included two former presidents gathered at the Washington National Cathedral to attend McCain's memorial service before he was buried at the U.S. Naval Academy in Annapolis, Maryland, during a private funeral on Sept. 2.
