Another Possible Gubernatorial Contender

She's already been a statewide candidate, running with New Haven Mayor John DeStefano when he ran for governor in 2006.  And Mary Glassman impressed many Democrats.

Now, sources are confirming that Glassman plans a major announcement sometime next month.  All indications point to her announcing for the Democratic nomination for governor.

It's an already congested field on both the Democratic and Republican sides and candidates feel the nominations in their respective parties are up for grabs.

Glassman has been Simsbury's First Selectwoman on two occasions.  She first served from1991 to 1998, then left office to become Chief of Staff for then Lieutenant Governor Kevin Sullivan.  In 2006, she defeated West Hartford Mayor Scott Slifka to win the Democratic nomination for lieutenant governor.  However, the DeStefano-Glassman ticket was defeated by Governor M. Jodi Rell and Lieutenant Governor Michael Fedele.   After that defeat, she was again reelected First Selectwoman of Simsbury in 2007.

Glassman will only say she's considering running for the Democratic nomination for governor.  But those close to her say she is close to making up her mind and is ready to run.
