It's Now Senator Blumenthal

He was a driving force as Connecticut's Attorney General for the past 20 years, but Richard Blumenthal was officially sworn in as the state's new U.S. Senator Wednesday.

It has been a step Blumenthal seemed to have been preparing for nearly all of those 20 years as Attorney General.

He was sworn into the Senate by Vice President Joe Biden, and was flanked by the man he is replacing, Christopher Dodd, and the now-Senior Senator from Connecticut, Joseph Lieberman.

True to form, Blumenthal worked right up to his last day in office in Connecticut. He spent Tuesday packing boxes in his old office at 55 Elm Street in Hartford.

"I've been working non-stop, enjoying every last minute." Blumenthal said Tuesday before leaving for Washington, D.C. "I have to admit though, I'm excited about walking through the halls of Congress where so many great men and women have made great decisions."
