Mr. Blumenthal Goes to Washington

After 20 years at 55 Elm Street in Hartford, Richard Blumenthal is moving to Washington, D.C. to start the next chapter of his political life.

The Attorney General was known to pack his schedule with interviews and court dates. On Tuesday, he only packed boxes making for a very empty looking office.

"There's a lot of history in these boxes and a lot of memories about fighting for the people of Connecticut. I want to continue those fights," said Blumenthal.

Blumenthal officially changes titles and becomes a U.S. Senator on Wednesday. He didn't take any time to transition and worked as the state's Attorney General until the last day.

"I've been working non-stop, enjoying every last minute. I have to admit though, I'm excited about walking through the halls of Congress where so many great men and women have made great decisions," he said.

Blumenthal says he's never shied away from a challenge and says his time in Washington will be no different.

"I think my priorities right away will be to create more jobs, revive the economy and cure the deficit," Blumenthal said.

Blumenthal's inauguration is in Washington, D.C. at noon Wednesday.
