Obama Records Radio Ad For Fairfield Dem

Democratic presidential candidate Barack Obama has recorded a radio advertisement endorsing Jim Himes, the Democrat running in Connecticut's 4th Congressional District. Himes is in close race with Republican U.S. Rep. Chris Shays.  The high profile radio endorsement is seen as a boost to Himes in a race that is being monitored in political circles outside of the state.

Himes' campaign received the 30-second spot late Thursday afternoon. In the ad, Obama tells voters that if they want change the way Washington does business, they need to elect Himes.

Himes' campaign hopes the ad will begin running on local radio stations in the Bridgeport and Norwalk area, as well as New York City, by Thursday night or Friday morning.

National attention is not new for Shays.  The 11-Term republican was the target of the Democratic National Committee in 2004 and 2006.
