Supersize the Ballot or Learn to Write Tiny

Green Party complains about tiny write-in space

One inch of space is just not enough room to write a candidate’s name, legibly anyway, according to Green Party.

The party plans to file a complaint with CT election officials.

The write-in space is less than an inch, Tim McKee, of the Green Party's national committee, said. That makes it nearly impossible to write in any candidate's name, and he's worried that some write-in votes won't be counted because candidates' names won't be legible.

Green Party and Libertarians were unable to get some major candidates on the Connecticut ballot because of questions about petition signatures and are forced to wage write-in campaigns. Both parties claim state officials improperly excluded hundreds of petition signatures.

The Associated Press left a message seeking comment with the Secretary of the State's office.
