This Week Pelosi, Next Comes Biden

If you see someone who looks like House Speaker Nancy Pelosi in downtown Hartford on Friday, it’s not some look-a-like. It’s her. And, she’s just the first of the high-profile Washington types who’ll be heading to Connecticut in the next couple weeks.

Vice President Joe Biden is supposed to be here next month to attend a fundraiser for Congressman Jim Himes, Greenwich Time reports.

Pelosi is supposed to be at a $1,000-a-plate luncheon today to raise money for the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee, which raises money for Democrats in the House of Representatives.

U.S. Rep. John Larson's office organized the event, planned for a restaurant in a downtown office building and Barry Feldman, campaign treasurer for Larson, said about 100 people are expected to attend. It’s being held only to raise money for the DCCC, he said.

Larson, who represents the state's 1st congressional district, serves as chairman of the House Democratic Caucus. He is the fourth highest-ranking Democrat in the House.

The Himes event will happen at a private home, the Time reports. Tickets for that luncheon will also be $1,000, but that’s’ for Himes.

The state GOP spokesperson, Christopher Healy, told the paper he plans to pay attention to the event, basically to see what comes out of the vice president’s mouth.
