Larson Wins 6th Term

Congressman John Larson has won his sixth term in Congress.

The East Hartford Democrat, who is the fifth-ranking member of the U.S. House, defeated West Hartford Republican Joseph Visconti Tuesday.

Larson was first elected to the U.S. House in 1998. A chief lieutenant of House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, Larson was elected in 2006 as vice chairman of the Democratic caucus.

He previously held six terms in the Connecticut state Senate and unsuccessfully ran for governor in 1994.
