Brown Staying for Senior Year

UConn running back Donald Brown will forego entering the NFL Draft and return for his senior season.

"I'm coming back," said Brown at a UConn media luncheon in Storrs on Monday.  "We can explore the options and see what they say, but I'm coming back."

Brown was named the Big East offensive player of the year and leads the nation in rushing with over 151 yards per game.  He has run for a total of 1,822 yards and 17 touchdowns, but still has an unfinished goal as a Husky.

"My goal is to go to the Orange Bowl, that's what I want to do, and next year will be my last shot," Brown said.  "It's a big game, one of the biggest games of the year and obviously that would mean we were Big East champs again so that would be another accomplishment."

UConn is 7-5 this season (3-4 in the Big East), but they lost five of their last seven games.  They will play Buffalo in the International Bowl on January 3 in Toronto, Canada.  It is the second straight bowl appearance for the Huskies, but still a disappointment for Brown.

"We're obviously disappointed with the way the season turned out, it's only the International Bowl, but you can't do anything about it," said Brown.
