Rose In Bloom at Travelers

Justin Rose must really like the back nine at the TPC at River Highlands in Cromwell.

He shot par on the 10th, his opening hole Friday morning, then birdied five straight holes on the back, something he did in his first round Thursday as well.  "I'm killing the back nine, but I'm not trying to," Rose said of his manhandling of holes 11 through 15.  "It was an amazing run, really."

Rose added three more biridies on his final nine holes Friday to shoot a 62, giving him the second round lead at 14-under par for the tournament and four strokes ahead of Kevin Sutherland.

Vijay Singh shot a 66 on Friday, putting him at 9-under for the tournament, along with Ryder Cup captain Corey Pavin, Bill Lunde and Charlie Wi.

Ideal conditions Friday morning meant some low scores for many, including Trinity grad Jay Williamson.  His round-two 65 put him at 6-under for his first two rounds.  He says it's a course he knows well and fits his game.  His ties to the Hartford area make this a different tournament than most on the PGA Tour.  "I don't go to too many places where people say 'how is Williamson doing?'.  So it's nice to at least have you guys know my name," Williamson said.
