Cowboys Feast on Seattle in Dallas

Cowboys put D in Dallas

The Dallas Cowboys won an important game, beating the Seattle Seahawks 34-9 –– but they lost two important players: Running back Marion Barber and outside linebacker DeMarcus Ware both left the game with injuries.

The apathetic Seahawks meanwhile played the game like they were all injured, and you couldn't help but get the feeling that they didn't want to be there.

Dallas started out strong, scoring in their first three possessions. Tony Romo accrued 331 yards, doling out touchdown passes to three different players, Jason Witten, Terrell Owens and Martellus Bennett. Witten, a tight end, was a force for the Cowboys, catching for 115 yards. Owens made a few circus catches on the way to gaining 98 yards, including an impossible 38-yard grab that set up Dallas for a touchdown.

Though Romo and Co. were impressive, the story of the day was the Dallas defense. They had five sacks in the first half alone and added two more in the second half. The most impressive series of plays came near the end of the second quarter. In two straight possessions, the Cowboys sacked Seattle quarterback Matt Hasselback twice. They also forced two fumbles and Terrence Newman stopped a Seahawks touchdown with an interception in the end zone.

Nothing illustrates the Seahawks bad game like the their third down conversion rate. Seattle only made the first down 21 percent of the time. Between getting sacked seven times and the lack of production from the running game -- they only rushed for 80 yards -- Hasselback looked frustrated for much of the game. They were not completely ineffective in the air, as Hasselback threw for 287 yards, but they were inept in the red zone and Dallas' defense limited Seattle to field goals.

The biggest question mark coming out of the game is now about Barber and Ware's status. Ware, who sprained his knee after sacking Hasselback three times, left the game but appeared on camera after the game and said he was fine. Barber, on the other hand, left the game because of pain in his foot and needed x-rays.

The Seahawks now move to a dismal 2-10 while the Cowboys are 8-4 and in striking distance of a playoff berth.
