Injured Weightlifter Won Gold Because of ‘intelligence of Coaches'

Taiwanese weightlifter Hsu Shu-Ching won gold in the women's 53-kilogram weightlifting, but it was later revealed she did so while dealing with a thigh strain.

How did she persevere through the pain to triumph? Was it determination? Toughness? Work ethic?

"That is the intelligence of our coaches that she was able to win this medal and overcome injury (to do so)," team doctor Lin Yin-Chou said. "We have been wanting this gold medal for some time and it is especially pleasing because she has had an injury that she has been carrying."

If true, the Taiwanese weightlifting coaches might start getting some calls from the NFL on playing through injuries.
