Justin Rose Headed to Travelers Championship After U.S. Open Win

Justin Rose confirmed Sunday night that he will be playing at the TPC in Cromwell this week.

U.S. Open champion Justin Rose will play at the Travelers Championship in Cromwell this week.

Nathan Grube, the tournament director at the Travelers Championship, says he received a call from Rose's wife, Kate, at about 9:30 p.m. Sunday, and knew it was going to be either really bad news or really good news. She was confirming they would be at the tournament this week.

The Travelers held its opening ceremony on Monday morning, kicking off a week of events and golf. The actual tournament runs Thursday through Sunday.

On Wednesday, actors and athletes will participate in the celebrity pro-am at the TPC at River Highlands. Geno Auriemma, Kevin Ollie, Chris Berman and Doug Flutie are among the celebrities scheduled to appear.

Andy Bessette, the chief administrative officer for Travelers, says the company is in negotiations to remain the title sponsor of the Connecticut PGA stop, and expects to finalize a deal before September.

The company, which took over the title sponsorship in 2006, has a deal that expires after the 2014 event.
