Kevin's Take: It's a Toss-Up for the “Best”

Is this the greatest UConn team ever?  You can certainly make the case.

The Huskies finished a perfect 39-0, winning the National Championship Tuesday night against Louisville. It is the third undefeated season in UConn history.

Here's my take:  I think the 2002 Huskies with future WNBA stars like Diana Taurasi, Swin Cash and Sue Bird may have been better than this group.  The first undefeated team at UConn with Rebecca Lobo, Jen Rizzotti, Nykesha Sales and Kara Wolters (who is sitting behind me on the plane right now) was certainly the most significant in building the program and putting women's basketball on the map.  But this UConn team, with Maya Moore, Tina Charles and Renee Montgomery was the most dominant.

The closest game they played all season was a 10 point win and they won by an average of 25 points in the tournament.

They were very emotional in St. Louis.  Their accomplishment is just starting to sink in.  They might not be the greatest UConn team ever -- that is open for debate.  But their national title is one of the great moments in their young lives.

I'll see you all back in Connecticut this afternoon.
