NHL Last Night: Sharks Too Slick For Oilers

The San Jose Sharks reached the 30-win mark in just their 40th game of the NHL season with a 4-1 win over the Edmonton Oilers on Friday.

Patrick Marleau had two goals and Devin Setoguchi added a goal and two assists for the Sharks, who regained the overall NHL lead from Boston near the halfway point of their campaign.

Blue Jackets 3, Capitals 0

In Washington, the home team's winning streak was ended at seven by Columbus.

Steve Mason made 45 saves for the sixth shutout of his rookie season as the Blue Jackets won despite missing eight regulars, including leading scorers Rick Nash and Kristian Huselius, through injury.

Washington also had its home winning streak ended at nine.

Sabres 2, Rangers 1, SO

In Buffalo, New York, Buffalo notched a fourth successive victory by edging New York.

Sabres goalie Ryan Miller made 43 saves and turned aside three shootout attempts, and Ales Kotalik had the lone goal in the tiebeaker.

Miller ended the game by stopping former Buffalo star Chris Drury's attempt in the third round of the shootout.

Blues 6, Canucks 4

In Vancouver, British Columbia, Brad Boyes scored a power-play goal with 2:10 left to give St. Louis a win over Vancouver.

Vancouver newcomer Mats Sundin committed the penalty, providing a rough ending to an unspectacular home debut for the former long-term Toronto captain. Sundin remained without a point or shot while playing 13:51.

Lightning 4, Ducks 3

In Anaheim, California, Ryan Malone scored his second goal of the game with in the third period to put Tampa Bay ahead for good in the victory over Anaheim.

Martin St. Louis had a goal and two assists for the Lightning.
