Ochocinco's a Pat, But Will He Wear 85?

Ochocinco changed his name to match the number, but Aaron Hernandez is wearing it.

By now, you might have heard that Chad Ochocinco’s been traded from the Bengals to the New England Patriots.

So, now the question arises of whether the eccentric athlete who changed his last name from Johnson to Ochocinco to match his jersey number will be able to wear number 85.

Aaron Hernandez – the standout tight end and Bristol native – has been wearing 85, but Ochocinco was wearing 85 during practice on Friday and Hernandez was wearing 81, Jeff Howe of NESN reports.

During his first season, Hernandez scored six touchdowns and covered 563 yards in his first season with the Pats and there are lots of fans out there with 85 gear bearing Hernandez’s name.

But, 81 holds significance for Hernandez. It was his number when he played for Florida.

It will be of little shock to anyone who knows anything about Mad Chad that he wants to be 85 in New England.

TMZ reports that Ochocinco is even willing to pay Hernandez for the number.

We’ll soon see who will be the wearer of 85.
