Report: Patriots Bring Back RB Blount

After 11 games, LeGarrette Blount is back in New England.

LeGarrette Blount is back in New England on a two-year deal, according to several reports. The Patriots let him leave in free agency, and the bruising back signed a two-year deal with the Steelers, where he was to be the backup to Le'Veon Bell, one of the league's most dynamic players.

But after just 11 games, Blount was released. Specifically: He left the field on Monday night before the Steelers-Titans game was over because he was reportedly unhappy at not getting a single carry. Blount had showered and made his way to the team bus before some players had even spoken to the media. Safety Mike Mitchell went to the bus -- in full uniform -- to coax Blount back to the locker room but Blount didn't budge.

By Tuesday morning, Blount had been released and several players were glad to see him go. Center Maurkice Pouncey even called the move "a blessing in disguise."

Blount leaves Pittsburgh having played in all 11 games, but rushing for just 266 yards on 65 carries and two touchdowns.

In his one season with the Patriots, Blount rushed for 772 yards, including a 189-yard performance against the Bills in Week 17. He'll join a backfield that includes Jonas Gray (fresh off a 201-yard effort against the Colts), Shane Vereen, Brandon Bolden and James White.
