Sox Or Yanks: Which Team is Connecticut's Favorite?

It's no secret Connecticut's baseball allegiances are divided. Now there's statistical data to prove it.

A new Quinnipiac University poll shows Yankee fans and Red Sox fans are evenly split in the state. In the survey, 39 percent of Connecticut baseball fans cheer for the Bronx Bombers, while 38 percent consider themselves part of Red Sox nation. That's a statistical dead heat as far as polls go.

Even so, the Sox just can't seem to beat out the Yanks in the yearly poll. Boston has come out on top just once, in 2008, since Quinnipiac began the poll in 2001.

The poll even points out the geographical split in the state. The Yankees had the most support in New Haven, Fairfield, Litchfield and Middlesex counties. The Red Sox had the most fans in Hartford, Tolland, Windham and New London counties.

What about the Mets you ask? They showed up on the poll as well. But as usual, their support was well behind the American League powerhouses, garnering just 11 percent in the survey.
