It seems the putting green is helping the state see green.

Today is Golf Legislative Day at the state Capitol and state lawmakers are planning to talk about the golf industry in Connecticut and the positive impact it's had on our economy.

State Representatives Jeff Berger(D-Waterbury), Joe Aresimowicz (D-Berlin, Southington) and Tim Larson (D-East Hartford and South Windsor) will join Travelers Championship Chairman Nathan Grube, golf pro Suzy Whaley and David Polk, director of First Tee Connecticut, for a news conference at 11 a.m.

During the event, Polk will discuss a major building project and First Tee's 2012 programs.

Whaley will speak about her upcoming Girls Golf Fair and other community service projects.
