Tom Brady Seeks Help for Ailing Mentor

Patriots Quarterback Makes Pitch for a Kidney

New England Patriots Quarterback, Tom Brady has a big mission off the field. He’s helping to find a kidney for the man he considers his mentor.

Tom Martinez, 68, a quarterback coach from California, has mentored Brady since he was just a young football player.

Brady is asking through his Facebook page that fans go to MatchingDonors.com so they can be tested to see if they are a compatible kidney donor for Martinez.

So far, many have been tested, but no match has been found, according to  MatchingDonors.com.

Officials from the site hope the publicity Brady is bringing to the cause will help find matches for others in need.

"It’s OK If they’re not a match for Tom, they might be a match for someone else," said Paul Dooley, CEO of MatchingDonors.com.

Nineteen people die every day in the United States waiting for a kidney transplant, most wait seven to nine years, according to MatchingDonors.com
