UConn students are smiling and tired after seeing the women’s basketball team end a perfect season by defeating Louisville Tuesday night, but the party’s not over.
"It's just a great feeling because it shows you, it motivates you, if you do work hard, you can get your goals," said senior Renee Montgomery.
Geno and the women landed at Bradley Airport at about 4:15 p.m. Wednesday. Their flight was slightly delayed.
They addressed the crowds that gathered in a field adjacent to the airport.
The jubilant Husky team then took a bus to Storrs for a public pep rally at Gampel Pavilion, where crowds gathered to welcome the team home.
"Just the way that everybody here in Connecticut comes out and supports us, and just really appreciates everything we do, it fuels us to do better and want to be our best," said sophomore Maya Moore.
"It's probably the first time I actually want to come back to Storrs. It's so amazing, I'm ecstatic," added junior Tina Charles.
More than 2,000 fans watched the game at UConn's home arena last night and many stormed the court as the final buzzer sounded.

This is the Huskies’ first national title since 2004 and the Husky women’s sixth national championship.
"They're the best, I hope they stay the best in years to come. UConn all the way baby," said Jeff Walker of Bloomfield.
