AAC Looking to Add More Bowl Games: Report

Last week, ESPN.com reported that the American Athletic Conference and the Atlantic Coast Conference had agreed to a six-year deal with the Military Bowl beginning in 2014. Now, the Associated Press confirms the report with some added details.

The American is still working on the rest of its bowl lineup. The league is trying to keep affiliations with the Liberty Bowl in Memphis, Tenn., BBVA Compass Bowl in Birmingham, Ala., and the Beef’O’Brady’s Bowl in St. Petersburg, Fla.

Big East Commissioner Mike Aresco has said the conference is in the process of putting together a new bowl game to be played in south Florida at Marlins Park in Miami.

The conference would also like to land at least one postseason game in Texas, with SMU and Houston set to join this season, along with Central Florida and Memphis.

According to the ESPN report, the bowl is expected to share the AAC's third through six picks, and the AAC's seventh through 10th picks. The bowl will also remain at the Navy-Marine Corps Memorial Stadium in Annapolis, Md., home of Navy. Previously, it had been played at RFK Stadium in Washington, DC.

This latest news comes a month after the AAC lost the Pinstripe Bowl.
