Connecticut Tennis Center to Host Lower-Tier Event

The Connecticut Tennis Center at Yale will host professional tennis this summer, despite losing the WTA event that had served as a tuneup for the U.S. Open.

The Tennis Foundation of Connecticut says it will host an Oracle Challenger Series event from Sept. 2-8, along with a men's legends event that same week.

The state in January sold its Premier WTA Sanction for the Connecticut Open to a company that moved the tournament to China.

The Oracle Challengers Series is a circuit for rising players. Admission will be free. There will be a charge for the legends event, which will include James Blake, who is from nearby Fairfield.
