New London has a new head coach, coming for a 4-6 camp last season, up against reigning Class M state champions who haven’t lost a game since December 2016, Killingly.
There was reason to think it after the game started too, with New London falling to a 14-0 hole early in the first half. But into the break, the Whalers had climbed back within one and they finished the game in dramatic fashion.
Jack Cochran, who won eight state championships at various schools including New London, was on the sides lines as an assistant coach for Killingly, against his old team.
