Leon Tolksdorf Leaving UConn

Connecticut forward Leon Tolksdorf says he will be transferring to American University in Washington, D.C., to take on a "new challenge."

The 6-foot-8 sophomore from Berlin, Germany, appeared in 24 games for the national champion Huskies, averaging 1.5 points and nearly one rebound in about five minutes per game. UConn announced the transfer Friday, saying Tolksdorf would continue his education and college basketball career at American.

UConn coach Kevin Ollie said in a statement that Tolksdorf worked hard on the court and in the classroom, and played a key role in the team winning the national title.

Tolksdorf said he was excited to accept the "new challenge." He said he enjoyed his two years at UConn.
