Best Golfing at Foxwoods

Lake of Isles-North is ranked the top state public golf course

Foxwoods is the epicenter of Connecticut golf for the third year in a row.

Lake of Isles' North Course was voted No. 1 in Connecticut on Golfweek's 2009 state-by-state list of "America's Best Courses You Can Play."

Golfweek's state-by-state rankings, which appeared in the magazine's March 14 issue, are based on results from a panel of raters who evaluate courses using the following criteria: overall strength of routing, feature shaping, natural setting, greens, variety and memorability of holes, conditioning and maintenance and landscape management.

The Rees Jones design is a par-72 layout that stretches more than 7,300 yards from the back tees. The course features rolling fairways, island tees and greens and extraordinary views, which blend nicely with the incredible natural landscape.

The North is open to guests of Foxwoods Resort Casino and daily-fee golfers. Green fees range from $120 to $195 and include a cart, range balls, yardage book, bag tag, divot tool, marker and tees.

Golfweek's top 5 "Courses You Can Play" in Connecticut include:

  • Wintonbury Hills in Bloomfield
  • Oxford Greens in Oxford
  • Great River in Milford
  • Fox Hopyard in East Haddam
