When Mel Thomas played at UConn, she demonstrated her heart and desire by diving after loose balls and shooting the tough shots.
Now a UConn alum, Thomas can tell Husky Nation what it was like to play on a team that has the highest expectations every year through her new book, "Heart of a Husky."
Thomas said she decided to write the book after keeping a journal during her senior year, 2007-08. It was a tumultuous season in which Thomas' Huskies made the Final 4 for the first time in her career, but she was only able to cheer them on as she tore her ACL on Jan. 15 against Syracuse.
Thomas finished her career with 1,098 points and ranked fourth in UConn history in three-pointers made with 224. She is currently playing professional basketball in Ireland for the Waterford Wildcats of the Irish Basketball League.
