Card Bored: Marv Albert, Mister Rogers and Miracle on Fail

"Card Bored" is a regular feature that chronicles Sean Leahy's adventures in the nostalgic joys and unintentional hilarity of the hockey card industry.

We here at Puck Daddy love to hear from the readers on a daily basis, whether it's through the comments or via email. We value your insight and thoughts on the game we all love.

Since many of you were card collectors when you were kids, we want to hear your stories about horrible pack breaks or experiences at a local card show. Have a funny hockey card story? Then send it our way puckdaddyblog@yahoo.com.

We'll publish some of the stories in the next edition of Card Bored and down the line, incorporate some hockey card giveaway contests.

1991-92 Pro Set Platinum - Marv Albert, Rangers celebrity captain

Apparently, despite all of the celebrities living in New York City, the Rangers decided to choose their play-by-play man. Sigh. If only Dancin' Larry (video) was around back then.

1991-92 Pro Set Platinum - Mister Rogers, Penguins celebrity captain

Mister Rogers' show was produced in Pittsburgh and that's where the list of reasons why he was the Pittsburgh Penguins celebrity captain ends. I was never a big fan of the guy growing up. I mean, look at him. He's all smug with his sweater and comfy shoes. What a douche.

/end unprovoked Mister Rogers verbal attack.

US Olympic Team Hall of Fame - '80 hockey team

Here's how the meeting went when deciding on the photo of this card:

"Hey, what shot should we use for the 'Miracle on Ice' card?"

"Eruzione's goal?"

"Nah"

"The celebration at the end of the game?"

"Meh"

"Jim Craig looking for his dad in the crowd?"

"*Yawn*"

"A random shot of Craig covering the puck and no visible player faces?"

"Fantastic!"

And that is why Impel is no longer making hockey-related cards.
