If we had a nickel for every Sidney Crosby diving card we've received in our Create-A-Card contest, we'd ... have about 40 cents. But it's about the quality, not the quantity, and these four cards each had their virtues. (Not playing favorites, but the "old timey diver" card on the bottom left is rather inspired.) Clockwise from top left, thanks to Puck Daddy readers PJ Kelley, Chris, Serif and Tony V for their take on the Pittsburgh Penguins star.
The rules of the contest, once more with feeling: Original Photoshops and artwork creations only, and we'll publish as many entries many as we can. The Yahoo! Sports rules of profanity and PG-13 content apply. Deadline for submissions is Friday, February 13 at noon EDT. E-mail contest entries to email@example.com. Judges are Wyshynski, Leahy and a handle of Grey Goose. Enter as many times as you'd like.
Dueling Puddys! The classic "Seinfeld" episode that celebrated New Jersey Devils face-painting super fandom gets a treatment from Adam V. (left) and Owen. Well-played.
From Puck Daddy reader Adam Jones, it's a recreation of the Gary Bettman "telling a 12-year-old daughter" meme from the Sean Avery scandal, a smack on Sidney Crosby and the use of a "Hannah Montana" card. Hat-trick!
This one took us a little while to understand, but once you get it, you've got it. Carey Price is wearing one of those garish striped Montreal Canadiens throwback jerseys, and PD reader Darren727 did a "Where's Waldo?" riff. Check out the biggie-sized card here for the text.
Too easy? Nah. Pretty perfect actually. David Cicirelli, creator of the incredible "Complete Mess Set" from last week, strikes again.
Speaking of the Sabres, here's an obscure one: the Taro Tsujimoto card. If you don't get the joke ... well, 10 puckhead demerits and read this. Puck Daddy reader Jeff Hunter created this one.
Mazarin has sent in roughly 10,000 entries so far, and they've all killed. We have a feeling that would be a lookalike on the left (correct us if we're wrong), but there's no faking the George Parros mustache from the Anaheim Ducks.
Again, we kid the Kansas City Scouts New York Islanders because we love them. Brutal, hilarious stuff from Scotty Hockey.
Finally, another reference that might be too obscure for fans new to the NHL but for those of us that are of a certain age (especially Washington Capitals fans) ... damn, this was good, no? Puck Daddy reader Eric K. is the guilty party.
Thanks again to all who've participated. We'll have another gallery up on Friday.
