In Russian hockey league, outdoor game watches you

The Kontinental Hockey League is saying nyet to being outdone by the National Hockey League when it comes to playing hockey outside.

Today, the KHL announced their first (and possibly last) All-Star Game, featuring the all-Russian squad of Team Yashin against the rest of the world squad from Team Jagr, will be played outdoors at Red Square on Jan. 10.

Red Square was the site of another outdoor game two years ago featuring Team World versus Team Russia. The idea was the brainchild of Russian greats Igor Larionov and Slava Fetisov, to celebrate the 60th birthday of hockey in Russia and the 50th anniversary of the country's first gold medal in the Winter Olympics.

Fans have until noon Moscow time on Dec. 22 to vote online for their favorite KHL stars. Taking a look at the voting site, there doesn't appear to be any sort of precaution taken for crazy script voting, but you can view real-time results after you vote.

(Note: You might want to break out the Russian translator to figure out who you're casting a vote for).

I can't figure who's currently leading the vote totals, but I wouldn't be surprised to see the starting six come from Montreal.
