Turns out the Stanley Cup actually was back in Mario's pool

The Stanley Cup ending up in the bottom of Mario Lemieux's swimming pool is one of the NHL's legendary Cup tales, to the point where Kevin Allen actually referenced the incident in the title of his book about Stanley's journeys.

Craig Adams of the Pittsburgh Penguins told Sun Media that the Cup didn't end up at the bottom of the pool as the Penguins celebrated their 2009 championship at Mario's palatial estate over the weekend. But as a photo gallery on the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette's Web site reveals, the Stanley Cup was most certainly inside the Lemieux pool.

The Penguins bloggers have been buzzing about these all afternoon. Check out the full user-submitted gallery on the Post-Gazette.com, featuring some candid shots of Sidney Crosby, Evgeni Malkin and Mario's preposterously nice home.
