Report: Calhoun to Join ESPN

Two years ago, and after a quarter-century in Storrs that included three national titles, Jim Calhoun announced his retirement. Kevin Ollie, who had played for Calhoun in the 1990s and later served as an assistant, succeeded him, winning 20 games in his rookie season and earning a national title of his own last April.

With the program in good hands, Calhoun's work appears done here, which could help explain why he'll spend the fall and winter covering college basketball for ESPN, reports the Big Lead.

More details:

Plans are still fluid, but the former UConn coach will provide regular analysis in the Bristol studio. Calhoun will be the third former head coach that ESPN is adding this year, joining Stan Heath (Arkansas) and Barack Obama’s brother-in-law Craig Robinson (Oregon State). Attempts to reach Coach Calhoun were unsuccessful, and ESPN declined to comment.

The Hartford Courant reports that Calhoun will work mostly from ESPN's Bristol headquarters as a studio analyst, the 72-year-old Hall of Fame coach will occasionally travel and contribute to SportsCenter.
