Report: Ollie Will Listen to NBA, Stay at UConn

The rumors started last month, right about the time the Huskies were finishing off Kentucky for the national title: NBA teams -- and the Lakers, in particular -- would come calling on coach Kevin Ollie. Still, as it stands, the feeling around Storrs is that he'll remain at UConn for the foreseeable future.

“It’s going to be hard to pry him out of there,” a source close to the situation told the Connecticut News' William Paxton. “He likes it there (at UConn).”

Paxton reports that Ollie has already been contacted by an NBA team -- but not the Lakers or the Pistons -- but adds that he and his family have roots in the area and, according to the source, "Kevin's not trying to leave UConn."

A recent report suggested that UConn and Ollie were negotiating a new deal, one that could more than double his salary.

Ollie said last month regarding the NBA that "I'm never gonna say never ... but I'm having so much fun (at UConn), it's my dream job."

And Shabazz Napier, the senior point guard who led the Huskies to the national title, was unequivocal in his take on Ollie's status.

“He’s not going anywhere,” Napier said. “He loves this university. When you love this university with the passion he has, he’s gonna stay here until they tell him he’s got to leave.”
