Report: UConn to Face Duke in 2014-15

The defending national champion UConn Huskies could play Duke University next season in New Jersey, the school confirmed to the News & Observer.

The matchup between the former Big East powerhouse and the longtime cornerstone of the Atlantic Coast Conference would take place in the Meadowlands at the Izod Center and be televised on ESPN, although no date has been set.

The Huskies' nonconference schedule continues to take shape and now includes games against Florida St., Stanford, Texas, a trip to Puerto Rico for a tournament that will include Boston College, Dayton, Texas A&M, West Virginia, New Mexico, George Mason and the College of Charleston.

The Hartford Courant notes that coach Kevin Ollie's nonconference plan seems to look a lot like Geno Auriemma's: Schedule as many tough opponents as possible to balance the so-so competition in the American Athletic Conference. It's still unclear how UConn's 2014-15 roster will look because Ryan Boatright and DeAndre Daniels have yet to decide whether they will enter the NBA draft or return for their senior seasons.

According to the News & Observer, Duke is 20-1 in the Izod Center, with the only loss coming to Arizona in 1989.
