Revolution to Storm Into New Britain

If you like soccer, head over to the stadium

The New England Revolution will leave their comfortable home of Gillette Stadium and come to Connecticut. The soccer league will play host for a third-round match of the 2009 U.S. Open Cup at New Britain's Veteran Stadium at the end of the month.

This won’t be the first time that the Revolution has stopped over at Veteran Stadium.  They already have a stellar 3-0 record here -- and all three were U.S. Open Cup wins.

This time around, they will match up against the Harrisburg City Islanders, a team they are also familiar with.  In the 2007 Open Cup Quarterfinals, the Revolution defeated the Islanders 2-1 at Gillette Stadium.

The Islanders advanced to the third round on June 15 by sneaking out a win against the Western Mass Pioneers, with the game being decided by penalty kicks.

The two teams will face-off on June 30 at 7 p.m.

Advance tickets are $13 and will be on sale at that discounted rate through June 29 -- $10 tickets are also available for groups of 20 or more. Tickets purchased at the gate on game day will be $18. Tickets can be purchased online or by calling the New Britain Parks and Recreation Department at (860)-826-3360.
