Coach Geno Auriemma and the two-time defending national champion UConn Huskies will face St. John's in the annual Maggie Dixon Classic, MSG Sports and the Dixon family announced Thursday, via the University of Connecticut.

The game will take place Jan. 4 at Madison Square Garden in New York City.

Details via the news release: "UConn, who has captured nine NCAA Championships, will be making their fourth trip (2008, 2010, 2013) to New York City to compete in the Maggie Dixon Classic while the Red Storm of St. John’s will be making their fourth consecutive appearance in the annual event."

Auriemma said last month that he always looks forward to playing at MSG.

“It’s the Garden,” he said, via SNY.com. “If we could play a game at the Garden every year it would be unbelievable. It’s New York. The kids love it. The fans love it. It’s a win-win for everyone. I’ve loved it at the Garden since the first time I set foot in the building.”

More via the release: "The Maggie Dixon Classic is held annually in memory of the former Army Black Knights women’s basketball coach. On April 6, 2006, 29 year old Maggie Dixon died from an undiagnosed heart condition. Over the course of her six months as head coach at the United States Military Academy she led the program to unprecedented heights; the Black Knights played in their first Patriot League Championship and Dixon led her team to their first-ever NCAA Tournament appearance.

"Over 325,000 Americans die every year from sudden cardiac arrest and Madison Square Garden will again team with the Dixon family to host a Heart Health Fair during the game."
