Westport's Marino Falls Short of Medal in Slopestyle Competition

Julia Marino, of Westport, made the journey to the Winter Olympics in Pyeongchang with a real chance at getting on the medal podium and will have another chance this weekend after falling short during the women's slopestyle event.

Marino fell on her first run amid challenging weather conditions and came in 11th. See the video here.

Team USA's Jamie Anderson took home the gold, Team Canada's Laurie Blouin has the silver and Finland's Enni Rukajarvi with the bronze.

Marino still has a chance at the podium - she is set to compete in the Big Air event.

Marino finished consecutive years (2016 and 2017) in the top three of the FIS World Cup rankings for big air. Qualification runs for Big Air start at 7:30 p.m. on Sunday, Feb. 18 Eastern Time.
