Man Arrested for Stealing 85 Purses: Police

Delaware State Police say 85 purses were found after two burglary suspects fleeing troopers crashed an SUV and escaped.

One of the suspects was arrested barefoot at a Valero gas station in Milford , the second is still on the run.

Police say Timothy A. Hood, 39, was one of two men who allegedly robbed the Coach Outlet in Rehoboth Beach early Wednesday morning.

Authorities witnessed a Mercedes Benz SUV leaving the shopping center after an alarm in the store was activated. They say the driver refused to stop for troopers and took off at a high rate of speed on Route 1. When the SUV reached Milford, police say it hit a Ford Taurus and both vehicles spun out of control.

The driver of the Ford, Patrick A. Organ, 41, was treated at Milford Memorial Hospital and released.

Troopers recovered 85 Coach purses estimated to be worth $29,000.

Hood, they say, was also involved in two other burglaries in the same shopping center. On August 7, Sunglass Hut was burglarized and $11,600 worth of sunglasses were stolen. Three days later, $27,000 in bags were taken from Michael Kors.

He was arraigned Wednesday. His bail is set at $75,000 cash.

If anyone has information on the other suspect, please call Delaware State Police.
