NBC Connecticut Meteorologists have issued a First Alert for this afternoons severe weather threat, a severe thunderstorm watch has been issued for the state and a severe thunderstorm waning has been issued for part of New Haven County until 2:30 p.m.
Our team of meteorologists are forecasting widespread thunderstorms this afternoon and evening.
Some thunderstorms will be strong to even severe. The main threats with the storms will be strong winds, hail, and heavy rain which could lead to flash flooding.
A Flash Flood Watch is in effect for the northern Connecticut counties.

Low pressure from the eastern Great Lakes moves in Friday and temperatures will cool down.
