Bratwurst and Sauerkraut


  • 6 bratwurst
  • 1 2-pound bag of sauerkraut, drained and rinsed
  • 1 cup small diced onion
  • 1 12-ounce beer
  • 1/2 Tsp. kosher salt
  • Black pepper, to taste
  • 1 Tsp. sugar
  • 1 Tsp. dried thyme
  • ¼ cup white vinegar


  • Place the sausage links on the bottom of a slow cooker. Top with the diced onions and the rinsed sauerkraut, then pour in the beer and add the salt, pepper, sugar, thyme and vinegar.
  • Cover with the top and set on high for three hours or low for six hours.
