Chet's Lemon Basil Granita


  • 4 cups water
  • 3/4 cup sugar
  • organic lemons (zest too)
  • cup basil chopped


Zest lemons and set aside. Squeeze lemons for juice. Place water, sugar, lemon juice, and zest in a pot and bring to a boil. Reduce heat to a simmer for 2 minutes. Transfer to a shallow pan and cool to room temp for 30 minutes. Stir in chopped basil. Place pan in freezer. Sir mixture and flake with fork every 30 minutes for 3 hours until light and fluffy.

Suggested Serving:

  • Spoon granita into glass with sprig of basil
  • Serve with your favorite local spirit
  • Serve with fresh fruit
  • Use as an intermezzo or dessert
