Traditional, Paleo and Gluten-Free Waffles

Basic Gluten Free Waffle Ingredients

  • 1 1/2 cups All Purpose Gluten Free Baking Flour
  • 2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon sea salt
  • 1 tablespoon sugar
  • 1 tablespoon oil
  • 1 cup milk
  • 1 large egg, room temperature
  • 3/4 teaspoon vanilla extract

Directions

  • Sift flour, baking powder, baking soda and salt together into a large mixing bowl. Whisk in sugar to combine well.
  • In a small mixing bowl whisk together oil, milk, water, egg and vanilla.
  • Add wet ingredients to dry and whisk together until slightly lumpy.
  • Let stand for 5 minutes.
  • Pour batter into waffle iron and cook according to directions.

Basic Paleo Waffle

  • 1/4 cup of coconut flour
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg
  • 2 teaspoons ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 teaspoon sea salt
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla
  • 1 tablespoon coconut milk
  • 4 large eggs, room temperature

Directions

  • Preheat waffle iron and read manufacturer’s instructions.
  • In a large mixing bowl sift coconut flour, baking soda, baking powder, nutmeg, cinnamon and salt. Combine.
  • Whisk in coconut milk and eggs. Let sit for 10 minutes.
  • Spoon about 1/2 cup of batter onto iron and close to cook. This first waffle will be the tester.
  • Cook waffle until golden brown. Remove to plate and keep warm

Basic Traditional Waffles Ingredients

  • 3 tablespoons butter
  • 1 1/2 cup flour
  • 1 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon sea salt
  • 2 tablespoons sugar
  • 1 1/2 cup milk
  • 2 large eggs, room temperature

Directions

  • Preheat waffle iron and read manufacturer’s instructions. Melt butter in microwave.
  • In a large mixing bowl, sift flour, baking powder, salt and sugar.
  • In another bowl, beat together milk and eggs.
  • Whisk liquid mixture into dry ingredients until just combined. Stir in melted butter. Brush hot waffle iron with butter.
  • Spoon about 1/2 cup of batter onto iron and close to cook. This first waffle will be the tester. Cook waffle until golden brown. Remove to plate and keep warm.
